1. The Introduction of Gemini 1.5
Google is finally coming on par with OpenAI thanks to Gemini 1.5
Built on an efficient architecture, it introduces a longer context window of up to 1 million tokens, enabling superior processing across diverse data modalities.
Developers can already access a limited preview through AI Studio and Vertex AI, setting the stage for broader availability.
What is Vertex AI: it offers a Google Cloud console tool for rapidly prototyping and testing AI models.
My take:
The big news for me is the huge token capabilities + multi-modality (meaning it can not only read text but also audio, video but most importantly: code, ie Excel files!).
It has promises to help in data analysis and I am looking forward to see Gemini being available in Google colab to be able to code Python and analyse data.
For us, it also means that the more competition there is, the better the products will become.
