To conclude our first month together and begin the new year 2024, here is a digest of the most relevant AI news from December 2023 in Finance.
I have read 100s of articles (yes that’s 3 to 4 everyday!) and kept the best for you so you don’t have to spend hours covering the AI news. That’s my promise to you as a member of the AI Finance Club!
In this Digest you will learn about:

Microsoft will launch Dynamics 365 which incorporates planning and AI
EU Artificial Intelligence Act Announced
Microsoft Copilot launched for Microsoft 365 (notably Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
Which LLM to choose for GenAI in Finance
1. Google Launched Gemini… but with some controversy
At the beginning of the month, Google, recently overtaken by OpenAI in AI leadership, unveiled a long-awaited new LLM model: Gemini.
After a few days of hype, fueled by biased research papers and a fake video, it became clear that the high expectations of surpassing GPT 4 were not met. Gemini is an improvement over Google’s previous models, but it does not surpass GPT 4.
My take:
Competition benefits us as consumers, and after my research, I believe we can rely on Google’s expertise in search and video to maintain an edge in these areas.
However, for our needs in Finance—solving complex problems, performing financial analysis, or professional writing—OpenAI remains the superior choice. Unless you are deeply integrated into the G-Suite ecosystem, I recommend using ChatGPT 3.5 or 4 for enhanced productivity and results.
